Holistic Certificate in Bereavement and Loss in Adults, Adolescents and Children
An Integrative Psychotherapeutic and Neuro-Linguistic Approach, this 5 day course is intended for:
- therapists, nurses, teachers, support workers, or anyone involved in caring for others
- those who seek to understand through increased emotional awareness how to deal with their own bereavement and loss issues
- parents and relatives who have experienced bereavement or loss of a child in natural and/or traumatic circumstances
The course will enable participants to think deeply about the process and resolution of grief through a unique and integrative approach involving trance, NLP and energy psychology; redundancy and retirement issues are also explored.
Course Outline
None of us escape from loss and change; life transitions occur from the moment we are born. Participants will explore the challenges that these life-changing events bring and increase their theoretical understanding of the process and issues innate in bereavement and loss. Through heightened awareness of their experiences of loss, participants will learn and utilise new skills and strategies that prevent natural grief from escalating into detrimental long-term physical and/or emotional health.
Bereavement and loss present therapeutic concerns which require particular awareness and skilled training. Topics explored on this course include:
- defining loss and bereavement and exploring the range of loss experiences
- grieving tasks
- situational v maturational crisis
- traumatic bereavement and loss
- adaptive v maladaptive responses including symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder
- traditional and contemporary theories of grief, crisis intervention, stress and trauma
- helping models and effective practitioner skills
- funerals and endings
- referral issues
- support and supervision
- bereavement and loss in adolescence and childhood and the risks of emotional disorders in adult life
- a mixture of somatic and behavioural symptoms.
- support charities for bereaved adults and children
Course details
The training will take place on 20th – 25th March 2009 in the lovely setting of Sherborne Hotel, Dorset. This training is suitable for up to 15 people and takes place in a delightful light and comfortable setting. Refreshments and lunch are included in the course fee of £495 per delegate.
The duration of each day is from 9.15 a.m.- 4.30.p.m. and free parking is available in the hotel grounds.
